DESTINY...

There couldn't be a truer thing said...
Many people belive in Destiny, Fate, Luck... name it whatever you wish... All actions they perform & the results there-off... are dependant on a Higher Power...
This, according to them is a sign of their belief, their trust in the Higher Power... This is actually an escape from Responsibility...
You are who your Choices make you... You are who your Actions make you... What you do affects your life, affects others... Thus the credit for every victory goes to You, the blame for every Defeat as well... There is no escaping it...
Is it something to be escaped from anyway? Is it that heavy a responsibility that one needs to apportion the blame onto some other entity, no matter however revered it might be?
Man is born free and everywhere he is in chains - Jean-Jacques Rousseau
It is this Destiny that makes up for those chains which bind Man... It is this responsibilty for owning up for one's actions that gives one Freedom... Freedom to do as you wish... subject to the Results to you & to others...
One may say, as a result others's actions also affect us... Very true... so, it is beneficial that others also own up to their actions... make it an ever-lasting chain... so that Mankind gets Free...
Life is not a Straight Path...
It is branched, like a Tree or... like Forked Lighteneing...
You are... What your Choices make You...
If you had made a different choice...
It would not be you here...
It would be someone else...
Looking back...
And asking Different Questions...
Break Free... From the Bonds of Destiny...
Take Life... Into Your Own Hands....

Our fate is not decied by almighty
God. We decide our fate by our own actions. We achieve everything by our efforts alone.
It is not the matter of sitting back & accepting. You have to gain mastery over yourself.

I dunno. I mean grown-ups, mature people, 21+ adults are given decision making powers by society.
And your nature is shaped up in childhood itself, when your decisions are moderated to speak liberally.
So teens are known to rebel to start asserting their independence, but destiny being shaped without society's influence is just taking things too far!

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...
Robert Frost (A Road Not Taken).
Tis true, life puts us to test everyday... dilemmas, choices, decision-making...
But its through the process of making decisions, and failing and rising, that we are moulded into the person that we are... and thus goes on the game of pitch and toss in life...

Great article!!

Although I strongly believe in character and actions... but somehow I feel that it is very easy for successfuls to rant about choices... but what we forget is most of the people do not get CHANCE to make choices...

a child who is born in a poor family never got CHANCE to make a choice of getting born in rich family... he never got CHANCE to make a choice of having good education because he was busy working right from his childhood for the sustenanace of his family... when he grows up he never get CHANCE to make a choice of living an comfortable (not even luxurious) life... since he is already in debts with lots of family members to take care of...

So DESTINY sure has a role in shaping our life... but it is through our choices and character that we may make our life beautiful and worthwhile...

“A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it.”
- Jean de La Fontaine

U r so very right..if u talk in terms of life certainly we do make our own destiny..but there are certain things like deaths, accidents, some shocking incidents etc for which i would say that destiny or fate does play a role...but as per as your life goes..u r d manufacturer and u r d repairer..u r d god and u r d devil of ur own self!!
